To date, about 95% of our products are currently labeled as having 0g of trans fat under FDA guidelines. Some of these products may have some level of hydrogenated fat. However, please be assured that in all cases where we have such a claim that, based on analytical tests by a world renowned independent laboratory, these products are well below the FDA threshold level of 0.5 gram of trans fat per one ounce serving.

When people see the word "hydrogenated" on a label, some people equate this to be the same as "trans fat," when in fact this is not completely correct. It is true that the process of partial hydrogenation does convert some of the normal "cis" geometric isomer into "trans" geometric isomer. However, most of the hydrogenated oil is generally unaffected.

The only Utz products we currently maintain that has any significant level of trans fat are as follows:

• Hulless Cheese Puff’n Corn
• Hulless Original Puff’n Corn
• Jalapeno/Cheddar R-T-E Dip
• Mild Cheddar R-T-E Dip
• Salsa Con Queso R-T-E Dip

Over the past several years, Utz has been engaged in an on-going research project to try to eliminate the use of hydrogenated oils as much as possible. As a result of our effort, none of our pretzels currently contain any hydrogenated fat. In addition, all our corn/tortilla chip products are fried in pure corn oil. With the lone exception of Home Style, all our other potato chips are fried in pure, non-hydrogenated vegetable oils, e.g. cottonseed, sunflower, and peanut. We still do have a few products where only the seasoning contains minute levels of hydrogenated fat (but are still nevertheless regarded as having 0g trans fat.

For consumers who want to absolutely abstain from eating any level of trans fat, below is a complete summary of Utz products that do not contain any hydrogenated fat:
